Sins of the Fathers

The Deep Plunge
And a the big meeting
An Offer You Can’t Refuse
The tale of two hotels

So, after sleeping on the news of Syl’s conversations, she tried to make us see her point of view. She wasn’t really successful. For a couple of hours we discussed the ramifications and what we should do next. It seemed we may need to expose that CJ is behind the murder of Rayne, the Alpha of the Werewolves and the Prince of the Vampires. We also need to introduce the acting leaders meet Tremere. Lastly, Elatha did a bit of research on what kind of being could the Spirit Beast be. He found out it was most likely an Abyssal. So there is that as well.

At 10:02am there was a knock at Syl’s door. Syl answered the door to a very attractive woman. This woman would then tell us that her name was Catalina. She told us she wanted us to meet her boss, a man called Salvatore Leone, sounds mafia like. She invited us to her accompany her to the meeting. Outside there was a white limousine, on the other side of the road was what looked like a black government sedan. She told us that the sedan driver was Toreno, an agent for the FBI. When we got in the back she took us to Caligula’s in Las Venturas. She took us to a small elevator in the casino. The elevator descended a long way given the speed of descent and the time it took. When the elevator doors opened we were in what looked like a security room. There was a cage to one side with pallets of money in it.

Catalina lead us to a door behind it was a large office. There was a view of what looked like Long Island. In front of the huge window was a huge desk and behind the desk was an Italian looking man. He gestured for us to help ourselves to drinks. I felt it was time I used my Italian Mafioso impersonation. The man was quite clearly Michael Corleone, I mean Salvatore Leone. At the door was a rough looking guy who seemed like a Consigliere. He told us he wanted us to do him a favour. He wanted us to plant a business card on CJ. In return he would give us Los Santos or anything we wanted. He allowed us to have a couple of hours to decide. Catalina escorted us up to the VIP room of the club. A place where you could get anything or anyone.

After Elatha lost in a game of chess, we all made it out on the balcony to discuss the offer. I sort of figured that it was an offer we couldn’t refuse. Syl was dead against the deal. I feared that I may repeat the first half of that sentence later. Elatha on the other hand seemed to be leaning toward the deal stating that he had never owned a city before. We eventually decided to head back down to talk to the Don. Syl did not want to go and told Leone that she wasn’t interested. He asked her to leave us and not speak of this again. Salvatore’s Consigliere left after Syl. We told the Don that we would accept his deal and asked for a limousine for the rest of the weekend. He offered us the small one and Catalina as our driver. When we stepped into the security room, Syl was waiting near the elevator. The Consigliere was right up close to her and the security guards all had hands on their machine guns. We managed to leave without incident.

Catalina escorted us to a white luxury sedan and asked us where we wanted to go. I told her the south side of the Gant Bridge, she seemed confused by this but took us anyway. When we got there we could see a row of portaloos. I told her I just need a bathroom break and stepped inside Angelina. Elatha and Syl followed not long afterwards. Elatha told us that we could give CJ a book from Rayne’s Library. I suggested we give him a forged copy of Rayne’s diary. I went off to find an appropriate notebook inside Angelina. When I got back, Syl told me the book was at her place. So we left Angelina, to find ourselves at Blueberry Farm. Syl called a taxi and with help from Elatha one wasn’t long away. We got back to Syl’s place and the luxury sedan was there, but no Catalina. We got Rayne’s diary and a pen and sat down at the table. I helped Elatha become the greatest forger…ever!

I borrowed Syl’s car to go and get changed in Angelina. I found the perfect outfit. William Hartnell, complete with cane! Awesome! I returned to Syl’s place. Catalina had returned and was waiting in the car. I got Syl to follow us to Blueberry farm and wait by Angelina. I got in the car with Catalina and gave her instructions to drive from the farm with the family to the Camarilla Hotel. We got to Blueberry Farm where the family was eagerly waiting for us to arrive. After some brief instructions they were off too Las Venturas.

When I got to Syl she was complaining about how much money she had and that she didn’t have any fuel. I got her to stop at a petrol station and I paid for her fuel. When we got back Elatha was still hard at work on the forgery. It would be a while. The next morning, Elatha looked exhausted, but the forgery looked better than the original. This just might work.

Best Laid Plans of Mice and Men
So many choices

Syl started driving towards her house. We started to discuss what we are going to do. Syl and I thought we should get some sleep. Elatha however, decided he should go and see the head of the Vampires. Elatha asked to be let out of the car. He got out and we continued on to Syl’s place. Syl pretty much went straight to bed. I decided I might refine this spell I have been working on. After a while I decided to fall asleep in her chair.

I woke up to Syl coughing. Elatha had just walked in the door. Syl started making demands about where her new couch went. Even though the couch was right there, next to me, right there. She seemed delirious. The sleep must not have been that good. I went outside to do my morning oblations. It felt good to revive myself after so many days without. Syl was rather impatient, it seems she did not get up on the right side of the bed. We got into the car and Syl started driving, heading to Rayne’s place. On the way, we started to discuss the pros and cons for our three main options.

Option 1, we introduce Tremere to the head of the Vampires. Now that will make Tremere happy, unfortunately CJ and the Mages, as well as the Werewolves and even the Vampires will be pissed off by this. Tremere might try and take control of the Vampires. That would be bad.
Option 2, we take Tremere to meet CJ. That will make CJ happy, but probably not Tremere. Who actually said he didn’t want to meet CJ. CJ will likely try and use Tremere for his own ends, which is not likely to be good for anyone but CJ. So this would leave Tremere, the Vampires and the Werewolves pissed off.

Option 3, we introduce Tremere to all three ruling leaders of the races of San Andreas. This has an advantage of not letting each leader to claim they have been kept in the dark. This is however likely to piss off Tremere, CJ, the Mages, the Vampires and the Werewolves. All of these options could lead to all out war between the three races. But the three of us agreed this would be the best course of action.

There was a newsflash on the Radio about the missing children appearing in Glen Park. Some of the children were wearing old fashioned clothes dating back over 100 years. The children that match missing person’s reports don’t seem to have aged. So it seems the Slender Man has released all the children. It seems quite odd that the time the Slender Man releases the children is just after Tremere rises and all hell breaks loose on San Fierro.

We decide to set a plan in action. I thought we would need a remote place to get all three leaders together to meet Tremere. After consulting a map Syl had in her glovebox, Elatha and I found a large farm called Blueberry Acres. Elatha came up with an idea for letting the owners win a radio contest. Syl suggested a hotel room for the weekend in Las Venturas. So Elatha found the number to ring the lucky winners. Fortunately they bought the story. So Elatha used Syl’s credit card to get a room at a hotel in Las Venturas. So now all we need to do is hire a car to take them there. So far so good. Syl gave her friend Incin a call, to find out how to get all three leaders to the farm. Finally after she finnaly told him that there would be a link to the 2,000 dead people in San Fierro he told her he would have them all there. And Syl congratulated him on his promotion. Don’t know what that was about. All is going according to plan.

We finally arrived at Rayne’s place. We went down to the basement where Elatha had left Desire and Tremere. They had left the house though. I told Syl it was a bad idea to leave them alone. We had a look through the open books scattered across the floor. You know what, this library has a lot of books. Syl tried to call Desire on her phone. We heard it ringing in the library. We found the phone under a stack of books. Why did she leave her phone? I thought it might be a good idea to try and telepathically contact Desire. At first, I had no luck. I tried again, this time was a success. When I asked her where she was, she seemed confused. She seemed to speak to someone else. Almost immediately I was cut off, then suddenly Tremere was in my mind. I told Tremere about the meeting, the time and the location. He told me Desire would get him there and to leave them alone. Not quite perfect but it is still going according to plan.

So with three days to spare, we decided that it was about time Elatha and I had a look at the murder site at Northstar Rock. Syl drove us there, when we arrived there was a family picnicking there. Syl told us that the scar that seemed to be caused by the lack of spirits was healing. I asked Syl for an exact as possible time that the murder happened. When she gave it, I asked Elatha to join me on a trip back in time itself. Syl walked off and put her phone to her ear. We opened up our minds and used the mysteries to cast our minds eye back to that fateful night.

In front of us, right where the family was in the present we could see Rayne, a woman dressed all in black as if she was in morning and another woman dressed like a biker. These must have been the other two leaders of the three races. Rayne said something along the lines of he had just discovered the reason why no one ever wants to leave the island. The others seemed interested. All of a sudden there was something like a tare through the fabric of the universe. Out stepped some kind of huge beast, the likes of which I had never seen before. It was some kind of spirit beast. It attacked Rayne, killing him quickly. The biker chick started to turn into a werewolf. She lunged at the beast, however she passed right through it. The beast turned and killed her in one blow. The Vampire started to turn and run. The beast was quicker, it caught her with a tendril of smoke and turned her to ash. The beast turned to a point in the trees, and said “It is done”. It then turned north and started walking away.

When we came back the family was packing up to leave. Syl came back and asked what we saw. I told her to open her mind to me and with a swift Glasgow Kiss, I relayed all that we had saw. She was able to work out where the spirit beast turned to talk to something or someone. We went over and had a look there. Syl started talking to some trees for some reason. Elatha joined my back to the same time as before, but from this angle. At once we could see someone right here. It was CJ, the acting Hierarch. As the events unfolded, he did not seem surprised by what happened. So CJ had summoned the spirit to kill all three leaders and gain power for himself. Elatha suggested that we not tell Syl of this development and I agreed that it would not necessarily be a good idea. When we came back Syl asked us what we found out and told us that trees were not useful to talk to. She was less than happy with our answers and knew we were concealing something.

We had an idea to follow the trail of a spiritless scar in the world. I would drive and Syl would give directions of where the trail went. The Trail lead across the Sound of San Andreas and near Las Venturas. We followed it where we could, at some stages it went overland and which meant we had to travel around the various roads to find the trail again. Eventually the trail lead to a fence with military markings. However when we checked the map the base wasn’t on the map. It is a secret military base. We followed the roads around to the other side of the secret military base. The trail didn’t seem to come out anywhere. We stopped the car and Syl decided to walk toward the secret base. Elatha and I went and got nachos from a nearby village. I used the mysteries to keep Syl’s nachos warm. When we got back Syl was just getting back to the road.

Syl wanted us to check out the fence for the secret military base. We decided to drive back to where the fence was closer to the road. We got out and had a look at the fence with the help of the mysteries. The fence had wards on them, lots of wards preventing all sorts of magic. It mostly was to keep anything from getting out of the secret base. The fence itself was old, over 30 years old, but the wards at only been in place for 15 days, 3 hours, 23minurtes and 14.3 seconds. We guessed the beast was now securely locked up inside this base. But why did the spirit beast come here at all?

Syl decided to drop me off at Angelina. We headed to San Fierro. Unfortunately the city was blocked off by the military, the city was under lockdown. We got turned back, so we headed back to Syl’s place. Syl decided to get some sleep. Elatha and I thought we might try and collect some of Rayne’s books to make our own library bigger. So we took Syl’s car and made four trips collecting books. Elatha found a book he was particularly interested in.

The next morning Elatha told us that the book could help raise the power of our Hallow by manipulating lay lines. We decided he could expand our Hallow which would then belong to the three of us. Although since I usually have no idea where I am going to be the next day and Elatha is whimsical, Syl is really the one who benefits from this arrangement. Whilst Elatha got on with this task, Syl went out somewhere. I decided to practice this spell. I think I finally got it figured out. I have been able to lace a bit of fate, a bit of time and a bit of space to it times. Now I have the practice done and the mantras down pat. I may be just about ready to formalize this new rote. During the day I also read up on some of Rayne’s books, particularly the ones concerning Space and Time. Very Interesting.

Syl returned later in the day, after Elatha had successfully finished. She told us that she had told Incin about what we had discovered and that she suspected CJ of killing Rayne. Yeah, CJ took power and gave power to his friends like Incin. This is not good. She then told us she had visited a vampire. And had told this vampire that the meeting was a trap, yeah the meeting WE organized. Only a woman could ruin the best laid plans of mice and men!

The Awakening
A Mage renewed

With George unconscious we started to discuss the sarcophagus. Elatha clearly wanted to open it, Syl definitely did not. I was sitting on the fence, I could see the benefits of both arguments. I suggested Syl see if anything was alive in the sarcophagus. She decided to use a fair bit of time to try this. In the meantime Elatha tried to convince me to open the sarcophagus. It would be far too heavy for me however. I studied the runes a little more but only made out Urfarah. The Father Wolf? What has the Werewolves historical leader got to do with this Tremere? Or this ancient place that requires a mage to get into? How does this tie in with Rayne’s disappearance? This trip is raising more questions than it answers.

I decided to check the crack in the wall. It seemed to go in about a foot before opening up and then another foot before opening again. With my arm all the way through, I felt something smooth brush against my wrist. I withdrew my hand slowly. I shone my light inside the crack but the beam would not reflect of any surface. The crack itself seemed like it was formed by that recent earthquake.

When I returned to the sarcophagus, Elatha had started casting a long spell of his own. I decided to spend my time studying the sarcophagus some more. There was something about the moon and changelings. There was a sentence about the Exarches breaking off from the supernal realm to prevent a war. It seems a war was brewing between the werewolves and the vampires in Atlantis itself. More study needs to be done on this.

Syl had finished casting but couldn’t tell me if anything was alive in there or not. I decided to delve into the mysteries and see if I could find any conscious thought around the sarcophagus. There it was, just a glimmer of consciousness, as if in a coma. Whoever is in there is from Atlantis.

After Elatha finished casting, we all had different ideas about what to do next. Elatha wanted to open it, Syl wanted to take it to the authorities and let them worry about what is inside. Personally, I wanted to study the sarcophagus before deciding. Unfortunately, Elatha managed to convince Syl to open the Sarcophagus, so study was no longer an option. Elatha and Syl pushed with all their might, just trying to edge the lid off. It took an immense amount of effort for them to finally get a crack open large enough for us me to look in. It seemed as if Syl was doing all the work.

Inside I could see the ancient rags, which still seemed to be well preserved. As Syl and Elatha continued to inch the lid further off, I could see more and more. There were the rags, then there was a body, you could see the dried and decayed skin covering parts of the bones, and then the gold jewellery. There were earrings, bracelets and necklaces made from gold and a headband that didn’t match the rest of the jewellery. Once the lid was far enough across we could see the comatose body. Syl decided to use the mysteries to determine the cause of death. She seemed surprise to find that there was no cause of death. She also seemed surprised that both Elatha and I already knew the body was alive. Perhaps if she was a Master…

The comatose body was breathing quite regularly, about once a minute. Syl walked away from the sarcophagus. Elatha decided to reach into the sarcophagus and pull out the headband. When he pulled it out we both looked at it. There were some High Speech runes on it that seemed to read “Gift from the moon”. I reached in and pulled out a bracelet, there seemed to be some moisture in the sarcophagus. The bracelet had nothing written on it, it was just decorative. Elatha put the headband back on the body, I followed and put the bracelet back on the arm. The skin seemed to be growing back across the bone. Elatha must have seen it as well. This body is….regenerating.

We spent about an hour trying to decide what to do next. An arm shot up out of the sarcophagus. It was not anywhere near as decayed as it was before. With a simple shove, the arm had pushed the lid of the sarcophagus off without any effort at all. We raced over to the sarcophagus to see a man that was in his 60’s staring up at us. We tried to talk to him but he didn’t seem to understand and we didn’t know how any words in High Speech sounds. I thought of one “Vrill’ya”. When I said it, the body looks like he understood. He seemed confused when I said Tremere though. He was de-ageing as we spoke. He still seemed week but tried to get out of the sarcophagus. With Elatha’s help he got out and sat down, he seemed to want water. We gave him a bottle of water, he drank it too fast and choked on it. We managed to get him to drink slower. Once he had finished the bottle he looked as if he was in his thirties. Syl put her hand to her chest and said “Sylvia”, then pointed to Elatha and said “Elatha”, then to me and said “Doctor”. The man said “Tremere”.

Tremere got up, and started walking toward the entrance. When he got to the entrance, the statue turned towards him. It was about to thrust the spear, but Tremere said something in High Speech. The Statue returned the spear and turned back to his position, he then fell to pieces, literally. Syl grabbed George as Tremere charged on, with the three of us in tow. When we got out to the chamber with the large chandeliers, I stopped Tremere. I gestured for me to try and telepathically communicate with him. As I was about to draw on the mysteries, Tremere was in my head. I asked about him and how he got locked up. He brought Syl and Elatha into the conversation, but dropped Elatha out when he was weird. Tremere explained that he was a scientist from Atlantis. He was in love with Luna the wife of Urfarah, the Chief of Police. Urfarah was also a Mage who created the “Changers”, or from what I gathered Werewolves, to come after Tremere. Tremere in turn created the “nightsiders” or Vampires. So the Werewolves and the Vampires were created by two Mages that were going to war. Although the Exarches shattered the Silver Ladder to prevent a war, probably this one. Tremere wants to see how the world has changed.

We started to walk but Tremere was impatient. He opened up a portal to outside the cave. He said in English that there was something blocking his magic. Syl then explained the abyss and its effects on magic. We stepped through and arrived outside the cave entrance. There was a body lying next to the portal, next to the body was a shriveled up spider. We could here sirens. It sounded as if San Fierro had gone to hell. Tremere said he needed sustenance. Syl showed him a picture in her mind of her house. He opened up a portal, he was being annoyed about the abyss. We went to Syl’s house, around the back near the tree. Tremere stepped inside the tree. Syl and I ate some of the nuts lying around.

Syl called CJ, it did not seem like a polite conversation. When Tremere got out from inside the tree, Elatha got him some clothes. Tremere was impressed by Elatha drawing a door with some chalk. Tremere wanted to Rayne’s Library. We decided that we would drop Elatha and Tremere off at Rayne’s place, and then Syl and I would go on and meet CJ.

CJ was not too pleased with our progress. He told us the there were 2,000 dead in San Fierro. Syl informed him of the current development, leaving out the bit about where Tremere was. He told us our sole job was to locate the creature from the Sarcophagus. We left and went a roundabout route to Rayne’s place, suspecting a mundane tail. Elatha was walking down the street. We stopped and he got in. He told us the Tremere wanted to see the head of the Vampires.

So Tremere wants to see the head of the Vampires and CJ wants to see Tremere. We still don’t know what happened to the previous heads of the three races. With the political situation on the island and the wealth of knowledge Tremere can provide…. I do not believe it is a good idea to introduce Tremere to any of the three ruling leaders….Individually.

What Lies Beneath
An ominous discovery

Elatha had woken up first and turned on the lights. Sure enough, once we woke up the two statues were still there staring back. We decided to check out the statues and the door again. We tried studying the runes, we could read “Danger”, “Vrill’ya” or Mage, and before that a word that seemed to mean negative, as in not. With further inspection we worked out the runes meant that mages could not open the door.

We cast some minor mage sight spells to help solve the riddles with the mysteries and cast our gaze towards the statues. We first noticed that by chanting the ancient High Speech the statues appeared to be waking up. Syl could see protective spells placed on the statues but could not quite work out what. I could also see that they were not meant to wake up for another 1037 years, 3 months, 2 days, 4 hours, 17 minutes and 26 .4 seconds. They had been sleeping for 3962 years, 8 months, 28 days, 19 hours, 42 minutes and 33.6 seconds. There were conditional clauses to wake the statues up early and we seemed to have triggered one. By focusing on Fate I could see that some causes included someone leaving the door or a mage trying to enter the door.

Elatha came up with the idea that since they were waking up when we chanted in High Speech, perhaps vulgar magic would wake them up completely. I was happy to oblige. I channeled time into my limbs accelerating my body well beyond any sleeper could imagine. I could run at about a third of the speed of sound! And I did! It was awesome!

However that didn’t help with the door and I suddenly felt a more pressing need to get inside that door. I thought that since the previous door required some mage blood, or blood with mana in it, to open, this door might require blood without mana. With Syl recently drained of mana, is suggested she use any remaining mana within her blood and try using her blood on the door. When she cooperated she was a little slow, so I gladly assisted her. It didn’t work. Then I thought maybe we should smear the blood on the crystals. Oily rag in hand, Syl reached for the crystal in the chest of the statue without the spear. Closer and closer she reached until was almost in touching the crystal when the statue moved. It grabbed both of her hands in a tight grip. She was trapped and couldn’t put the oily rag to her mouth to take a drag.

Syl went to reach around the statues arms to take the oily rag from her hand, when I quickly snatched it out of her hand and put it out with my shoe, telling her it was bad for her health. Elatha promptly lit one of his own oily rags. This seemed to make syl angry, she turned her arm into a snake and slipped free. Then she picked up her oily rag. As she drew it to her mouth the thing grew to its original length and lit up with a burst of flame from the oily rag itself. In the mean time the statue had returned to its cross armed pose.

Elatha decided to get some of the blood and casually walk up and touch the crystal on the statue. It was now that I decided I might need my diplomatic immunity and called upon the mysteries to obtain it. When Elatha reached for the crystal, the statue promptly slapped him for his attempt. He then tried to flick the blood onto the crystal from a safe distance, but the blood did not want to land on the crystal. Syl wanted to go back to the city and still some human blood, however that would take too long. I suggested that she turn herself and Elatha green again and then try to come at one statue from three directions. She agreed, and promptly turned Elatha green and then herself. It’s not easy being green. Syl suddenly decided she didn’t need our help to smear the crystal.

She approached the statue, when she got close both statues moved in response. Talking in High Speech one statue said “Leave” as the other statue hit Syl with the butt of the spear. The first statue stepped in front of the door blocking the path. The second cautioned Syl off. I turned my sonic screwdriver on and leveled it at the spear, I would not allow him to use it again. Elatha told the statue in high speech to “Stand aside” which the statue responded with “Do not command me” in High Speech. Elatha, again in High Speech said “Please”. Again the Statue responded with “Do not command me” in High Speech. This time in English, Elatha pleaded “It was a request not a command”. The second statue told us “Leave” in English. Syl must have backed off far enough as the spear wielding statue returned to its original position. Feeling frustrated Elatha threw his shoe at the first statue. The statue caught it and would not return it.

Syl had walked and lit up one of Elatha’s oily rags. A few moments later I heard a voice say “Spit”. It seemed to be in my head, but then I heard Syl actually spit. Elatha suggested using the corkscrew to remove a crystal. Syl said she had made a way to get in but had to wait. I said I would try the corkscrew as time was of the essence. I walked up to the statue and reached up to the crystal with the corkscrew. As I drew closer, the statue, ignoring my diplomatic immunity, punched me. I stumbled back with the wind knocked out of me. When I caught my breath, I stood up. I could feel my anger and wraith building inside me. I leveled my sonic screw driver at the statue, with the help of the mysteries the statue blinked out of existence. I knew it would be two years before the statue would returned.

Syl sat down to wait, she seemed convinced there was nothing else to do. Elatha pulled out some marbles and started to throw them wildly around the room. My need for urgency seemed to fade. I decided to explore the rest of the ruins. The best I could tell is that all the other rooms in side passages were cells. This whole place was a prison of some kind. So what is in the other room? Could it be an inmate? If so it must be the one that needs the most secure confinement. Or could it be the Warden? Someone so powerful, that he could keep this place running and a secret.
After a few hours exploring I returned to the chamber where Syl and Elatha were. When I made it back into the chamber I heard a sound. Elatha seemed to hear it too. It was coming from the cave.

Elatha and I headed towards the entrance of the cave where it meets the ruins. We could hear someone stumble down the cave. Syl had followed uninterestingly behind us. I called out, but got no response. Elatha and I headed down the cave. We found a man that had passed out, he had succumbed to the fowl air of the cave. He was wearing what looked like the uniform of a council worker. We picked him up and carried him to the fresh air in the ruins. Syl seemed unsurprised about this man’s appearance in the ruins. Conveniently, when we need a sleeper, one appeared for us.

He woke up, and seemed a bit surprised to see us down here, but a little more surprised to see the ruins down here. He said his name was George. He then demanded to know what authority we had to be down here. I pulled out papers saying we were from the USGS (United States Geological Survey). He seemed happy with that. Syl said we should get him to the door. We took him down there. He walked up to it and a door knob formed, he twisted the knob and pushed the door open. Thank you George.

We headed into the room, I told George to wait closer to the entrance. There was a sarcophagus in the centre of the room. Around the room were little alcoves, one of which seemed to have a slight breeze coming from it. Elatha used the Mysteries to see were the threads connecting the spiders were joined too. He said it was George, but that didn’t make sense to us. He then quietly said “We should kill George”. Unfortunately Syl responded loudly by saying “We are not going to kill George”. Unfortunately George heard this, said “What the fuck?” he then turned and ran out the door. It was then we remembered what the triggers were to wake up the statues. The only statue now, the one with the spear, turned and thrust the spear into George’s side as he tried to run. I was reacting before when he started to run. I had brought the sonic screw driver up and leveled it at George. I reached to hour glass of time and upturned it for a moment, returning the most recently dropped sands back into the bulb of the future. I heard once again, Elatha say “We should kill George”. I quickly slapped my hand over Syl’s mouth and put a finger to my lips to shush her. I quietly and severely told them to stop talking about killing and called George down to us.

I asked George to accompany Syl to the alcove with breeze in it and check it out. Elatha went and checked out the sarcophagus and I went to look at the other alcoves. I found that there were some reasonably well preserved remains in some of the alcoves. Elatha had attempted to open the sarcophagus but could not budge it. I went over to have a look for symbols on the sarcophagus. There were none on the golden lid, but they were all over the sides. George said he thought we were geologists not archaeologists. I told him I was a geologist and I usually brought my friend El, the archaeologist, along on trips. He seemed to buy that but I could tell he was a little afraid of being here and maybe a little of us. He came up, with Elatha’s prompting to the sarcophagus to see if he recognized anything. We found the Atlantean rune for “Tremere” on the sides. I knew that the Tremere Lich was a left handed legacy but Syl seemed more afraid of this and begun looking for the rune for “Legacy”. Elatha wanted to open it but Syl said no. It was now George decided to leave. I ordered Syl to stop him. She tackled him to the ground near the entrance. I put the sonic screwdriver to the back of his head. Elatha put his hand out of the door the statue started to move to stop him leaving. Seeing the statue move seemed to make George even more aggravated. With the help of the Mysteries I encouraged him to sleep.

Descent into Darkness
What lies below San Fierro?

Elatha and I started looking for a safe way down. I called out to Syl again, this time she didn’t sound so good. Elatha decided to through caution to wind and slid down, I thought that looked like fun. When we got to the bottom, Syl was at our feet. There were spiders everywhere, as far as the eye could see. But they were only in the shadows. Even when we shined our torches on them, they scampered into the darkness. Every species in the universe has an illogical fear of the dark, from what I’m seeing now they are wrong, it is perfectly logical. These spiders were about as large as a bird eating spider but white in colour, and hairless. Giant Arachnid Vashta Nerrada. It looked like Syl had been bitten. The two little bits were oozing a black substance, and her veins were visible and black right up her right arm. I helped her to her feet, as I did a drop of the black substance oozed from her hand and dropped on my shoe. It spread for a second and dried, as if it was turning to dust. I helped Syl back up to the entrance, while Elatha held back the spiders by staring at them. I got Syl back to Angelina. In there she dropped some more of thst ooze onto the ground, again it just turned to dust. I asked her not to get any of that on the floor. I connected with Elatha, he told me he was going to go deeper into the cave. I asked him to wait and I would go with him. Syl knows a lot about the Life Arcanum and would be fine.

I returned to the cave opening, inside the spiders seemed to have encircled Elatha, but they were not attacking. As I moved down, the spiders were moving up, but they avoided me. I joined Elatha an we started heading down the cave. The cave turned to the left and continued to descend. The cave was dirty at the entrance but then became dry. As we descended further and further the air became denser and heavier. Elartha started to struggle and stumble as we bouldered around the large pieces of debris strewn about the floor that had fused with cave from centuries of groundwater acting on this hidden system. I had to evoke the mysteries to help Elatha make it. But Elatha insisted we keep striving forward. Looking back we could see a light coming from behind us. We heard an echo of Syl’s voice call out. Using the cave walls to talk to each other we decided to continue separately and let Syl catch us. It got harder and harder to continue. I had to keep supporting Elatha as we went. He seemed just about to succumb to carbon dioxide poisoning when Syl showed up. She had managed to catch us. I was pleased to see that her veins were no longer black and the two little holes were no longer dripping black puss, or there at all. However, it was a little concerning the she was, well, green, a deep shade of green. A green that is… what’s that colour? It’s the colour of the British Aston Martins, the racing ones, oh what is it called? Oh, oh, oh British Racing Green. She decided to help out Elatha and made him the same colour, although could understand why he was now British Racing Green. Nor could i, but if it works. They were still both struggling with their breath but did not seem to have a problem with the excess carbon dioxde in the air.

We continue forward. After 2 hours 47 minutes and 15.43 seconds, the cave started to have more defined edges, even walls and a roof. From the time frame and the general direction we were travelling, I estimated that we were directly under the CBD of San Fierro. There was brickwork on the floor. I had a look at the brickwork, it was old, impossibly old, older than anything I have seen on this island. The bricks were older than the limestone we have been trekking across all this time. We continued further into the cavern. After a further 27 minutes and 28.31 seconds we discovered that chamber was much larger. On the roof were two rows of chandeliers that were equidistant from each other and the walls. There were a few other passages joining this cavern from the sides. The light of our torches finally seemed to find the end of the cavern. There was a metal door. We got to the door and discovered that it wasn’t metal at all but stone. There were Atlantian runes around the frame, Elathe took out the Rayne’s notebook and began to study them. He had suggested that Syl should run full pelt at the door, which would open it. The only one i could make out was “Danger”. I examined the door. Elatha found the Antlantian words “Behind”, “Door” and “Vril’ya”. This led me to remember the novel called Vril, about the subterrainian race. This is likely one of their subterranean cities. Elatha drew a circle on the stone, and then smudged it for some reason. I worked out the door was made out of orichalum. An ancient stone that was believed to be used along with gold and silver to construct Atlantis. We worked out that the door needed to absorb some mana to open it. Realising that there is mana flowing through our very blood, Elatha cut the soft skin under his finger nails. He smudged the blood on the door, the blood seemed to be absorbed by the orichalcum door. A door knob appeared where Elatha had drawn the chalk circle. He grabbed the door knob, turned and pushed.

There was a corridor behind the tunnel. On the walls were narrow, black panals. Closer inspection revealed that just behind the black seemed to be shimmering colours. Syl poked it and the colours seemed to spread along the bands. I held my hand on the panel, and the colours continued to spread, making the colour brighter. They lit up the room to a point where we no longer needed the torches. The panels were linked on either side. We continued further forward, holding our hands against the black panels. The corridor opened up, the panels continued around the sides, up the walls and across the roof. There were two statues on the other side of the room in front of another orichalcum door. When we ventured closer to the door and statues, we could see there was a crystal in the skull of one of the statue that had crossed arms. The second statue that held a spear had a crystal in its skull, and another in its chest. There were two more holes for crystals it the statues shoulders. The crystals had Atlantian runes that read as “Defender”, “Magic”, and “Mundane”. There also seemed to be a light within the crystals. We realised that it was 11:54pm San Andreas Time. Elatha curled up in the corner, while Syl and I let the lights go out. Syl decided to keep watch for four hours and then woke me up. I decided it wasn’t necessary so went back to sleep.

Elementary my Dear Sylvia
The Power of The Coming Race

I waited…..

A car approached….

Somebody stepped out….

They had a torch, and shone it my way….

They called out….

It was….

Just Syl. I was worried for a minute there. Anyway, Elatha joined us near the base of the shack with Syl’s Mystery Stalker, whom Elatha is calling Barry. We entered the shack, we struggled to hold our meals down, Syl’s mystery stalker failed. We examined the area and Elatha asked about the book. I gave it to him and we left the shack, avoiding the vomit. We started walking towards the car when we heard a blood curtailing howl. Then another. Five werewolves came out of the darkness. Circling us like the predators they are, and we were their prey. I said hi. One suddenly grew in size and then shrank to human size, then loomed out of the darkness. They told us to leave but not very politely. Syl’s mystery stalker fled to the car and we followed. She couldn’t get the car started, but with Elatha’s luck she managed to despite what sounded like a flooded engine. She drove off like a woman possessed. It took me several moments to use my sonic screwdriver to reverse the polarity of her neural pathways to calm her down. After that Syl drove back to her place. Elatha started reading the book with my help. He pointed out a word that seemed to be standing out to him, so I helped them stand out and do a show tune for him. Vril. She let me inside, then took Syl’ mystery stalker home. I was fast asleep by the time she returned.

In the morning we woke, had breakfast and after some oblations we headed back to the desert. We stopped for lunch at the Lil’ Probe inn. It was a UFO themed restaurant that didn’t seem to mind strange orders. Syl order a hamburger, held it up, looked at it for awhile then put it down. She went to the restroom and we could hear her throw up. When she came back she grabbed a salad and went outside to make a call. After Elatha and I finished our meals we went outside, Elatha taking Syl’s hamburger outside with him. He sat there and started to eat it in front of her while she ate her salad. All of a sudden she dropped the salad and snatched the hamburger, scoffing it down in seconds. She seemed concerned that someone was influencing her mind. I took a look on the drive to Angelina. The ring she wears seems to be giving her a compulsion to be obsessive and addictive.

We arrived at Angelina, and headed straight to the library. Syl asked about a book called Vril, and I pulled it out for her. The book is a novel that centers on a young, independently wealthy traveler (the narrator), who accidentally finds his way into a subterranean world occupied by beings who seem to resemble angels and call themselves Vril-ya. The hero soon discovers that the Vril-ya are descendants of an antediluvian civilization who live in networks of subterranean caverns linked by tunnels. It is a technologically supported Utopia, chief among their tools being the “all-permeating fluid” called “Vril”, a latent source of energy which his spiritually elevated hosts are able to master through training of their will, to a degree which depends upon their hereditary constitution, giving them access to an extraordinary force that can be controlled at will. The powers of the will include the ability to heal, change, and destroy beings and things; the destructive powers in particular are awesomely powerful, allowing a few young Vril-ya children to wipe out entire cities if necessary. It is also suggested that the Vril-ya are fully telepathic. The narrator states that in time, the Vril-ya will run out of habitable spaces underground and start claiming the surface of the Earth, destroying mankind in the process if necessary. This could be related to Atlantis. I read in a newspaper recently about a cave being discovered under the Gant Bridge.

With a little luck we opened the door of Angelina looking out from under Gant Bridge. We heard a couple of guys trying to work out where the port-a-loo came from. Elatha went looking for a construction helmet. Syl and I walked out, incognito. One of the guys had just finished up talking to the Department of sanitation to get the loo removed. After a brief chat we found out that people went missing in the cave and one guy was still in a comma after being bitten by a white spider, two weeks prior. After he left Elatha found his way back with a helmet. I grabbed some lights and a rope and we headed into the cave. Syl slipped and fell down and out of site. We called out, and she said she was ok.

I wonder where this cave goes….

Hunt for a Good Book
Searching for Nunya

With the revelations of the events of the previous week, I showed Syl the past. She had not seen the book that was described by the gang. With Elatha’s aid I glanced into the past to when Syl and her previous investigation party arrived. There it was, the notebook, sitting on a side table. While most of the team was focused on the closed door, one of them pocketed the book. It was a shifty looking man with shifty eyes, I found out later it was Nunya. Nunya was a Mage with plenty of raw power. An Apprentice of Forces, Space and Matter who dabbled in Fate and Mind. Syl would later tell me that he was a paranoid conspiracy nutter that had a broadcast on the radio waves on a daily basis. We were brainstorming ways to get that book to us, when we heard a cough at the back door, Syl was in the process of being sick in response. Elatha and I started for the front door with Syl in tow. Fortunately when we left through the front door. Fortune smiled on us when we left as a LSPD Officer had just walked past the house and disappeared out of sight as we exited the Rayne’s home.

We had lunch at a cheeseburger restaurant at the beach. The cheeseburgers were delicious, Syl found them to be quite bland so settle for a couple of jelly babies instead. Syl drove us back to her place, as Elatha and I formulated a plan. When we arrived at Syl’s place, from the car we saw that her door was open. I asked if she heard a cloister bell, as it turns out she had heard a cloister bell. We went in quietly, there was a delicious smell emanating from the kitchen. We headed there to investigate. It was Syl’s Mystery Stalker, and she was doing something of the most grotesque nature….she…..was…….cooking!

Elatha and I started taking care of business in Syl’s living room, while Syl. She really needs a couch. He decided at a whim to make it my destiny to find Rayne’s notebook, and I added a little luck to the task. I suddenly realised that there could be a book in the library that could help. I told Elatha that I would be back in a minute and left to visit Angelina.

I couldn’t seem to find the book in the Library, maybe Syl has it. I left the library, then Angelina. But, her plans had obviously changed. I was no longer outside a construction yard, but in the middle of a dessert! I looked around and saw an old radar dish with a small shack near it. There were cables between the shack and the dish. As I moved closer to the shack I noticed a horrific smell, as if some kind of animal died in there. I opened the door and there was a corpse on the floor. I recognised it as Nunya, but it looked as though he was squeezed like toothpaste. I looked back in time to see what happened to him. He was reading Rayne’s notebook when there was a knock at the door. Nunya looked shocked and stashed the notebook under the bed. At the door was his dead wife, who just happened to be a vampire came back, talked to him, hugged him, and then squeezed the life out of him, literally. She ran terrified at what she had just done.

I retrieved the book from where it was hidden for the week. I returned to Angelina to have a read of the book. It was fascinating! All the stuff on Atlantis! Rayne believed that Atlantis was right here at San Andreas! Rayne wanted to discuss some history with the leaders of the Werewolves and of the Vampires. This could be what he died for….

I left Angelina, hoping to be back near Syl’s place, I wasn’t. I contacted Syl with my mind. She seemed terrible troubled by this. If I didn’t know any better I would guess that she is a little schizophrenic. She seemed to know where I was and was coming to get me.

There was a howl of towards the North. Wolves maybe, or worse.

Another of to the South, I hope Syl gets here soon.

Another, from yet another direction.

The Werewolves…..

At what point?

At a certain point in your life you need to ask yourself, what did I get myself into?

Let’s do a recap,

A carnie, Elatha, (and that would be using the name as a compliment), decides that my doorstep, (and wall for some strange reason), looked inviting. The Doc seems to like him, and fate seems to smile on him.

The Doc, I feel is one check up short of a full practice. The Doc has helped me out in a few scrapes, so perhaps it’s the insanity that keeps him coming back to me.

My new ‘friend’, Denise I believe her name is. I’ve found a new friend who seems to like me and apparently sends me hampers. Oh and she breaks into my house and destroys the gauntlet near my house like a three year old draws with a crayon. (note to self, get the door lock replaced).

Oh and I’ve got the hierarch and who knows who else breathing down my neck because I’ve hit some very large walls in what appears to be a rather impressive killing of three of the scariest people in town. So the next scariest have decided that I’m the person to look into this. Oh I did I mention the abyssals? Well I best not, good to save some stuff for next time.

So is it time to ask that question?

Hell no.

P.S. Almost forgot, some man, clearly in need of a cheeseburger has decided that children need to be taken away and to punish the parents. I really need to find some better hobbies.

Conclusions and Revelations
It all comes out in the end

After a good night’s rest, Angelina still had not moved. I went through my morning rituals and then over to Syl’s to do my other rituals. Syl arrived home, I assume after spending the night at Mrs Mison’s house. As predicted she was exhausted. She put breakfast on then passed out on her bed. That Elatha wasn’t with her, however, Miss Syl’s Mystery Stalker knocked on the door. She had a gift hamper, and asked to come in. I said no, she then offered for me to pass on the hamper, which I agreed to after I had determined it wasn’t a bomb. I laid out all the Items neatly around Syl. Finally I checked the police files to find out if any of the missing children had siblings. Only David Wilson did, a 10 year old sister at the time. I got the last known address and took Syl’s car to San Fierro.

After a two hour, twenty-seven minute and fifteen second drive, I arrived at the address. I’m my way up to the apartment I tried opening my eyes to the mysteries but the attempt failed to hold. I tried again, this time succeeding only to see a woman trying to stop me using my spells. I confronted her, she was annoyed that I came into her territory and was casting spells. Her name was Tsi, she was a part of The August Mansion. She insisted I speak to Wu Zi.

We went down stairs and got into Tzi’s Transam. We took off, Tzi hugged the corners, performed smooth racing changes. Even in the overcrowded China Town, the people just seemed to step out of her way at the right time. She pulled into an underground garage and parked next to a lift. She instructed me to go up. I did.

The lift opened up to what I first thought was a Chinese restaurant, I then noticed that the furniture didn’t fit into Chinese restaurant, or the walls, or any of the rest of the decor. There was an old Chinese man whom I assumed was Wu Zi. He gestured for me to sit down, and then made some tea. It was Chinese tea but not bad. I apolgised for encroaching on his territory, and then explained why I was in San Fierro. Finally he said the only words I heard him say “One Day”. He then left, after waiting a minute, I too left by the lift.

When I got back to the garage, Tzi’s Transam was waiting for me, facing the other direction now. Curious about Wu Zi’s cryptic response I asked Tzi what it meant. She told me I had a day to find out what I needed too. She asked why I wanted to talk to Amy Wilson. She said something about Syl being on an important mission from CJ, and that I was supposed to be helping. When I told her she seemed pissed off. She stopped suddenly and got out of her car to make a phone call. Whoever she was talking too, she was clearly pissed off. She kicked a garbage bin and got back into the car. I think Syl is in trouble.

When we arrived back at Amy Wilson’s apartment, I got out and Tzi took off, so much for help. I headed up again. An again opening my eyes to the mysteries. I also tried a little luck and made some psychic paper. I knocked on the door and announced myself as a Los Santos PD. Amy answered the door and I produced my psychic paper, thank you Christopher Eccelston. After some initial questions she let me in. When I explained that I was investigating the cold case from a new angle, Amy produced a file, with drawing of the slender man. She said that her brother had drawn these and that at the time he had told her that the slender man would save them from their abusive father. After a brief discussion, I left, her eyes were full of hope. When I got outside I could feel Elatha’s mind ask me “Where?”. I decided to contact him and jumped to his mind. First thing was me critising him for one useless word. We had a bit of a discussion with him talking to Syl at the same time. We decided to meet at Syl’s place as soon as possible.

After two hours, twenty seven minutes and fifteen seconds, I arrived back at Syl’s place. I arrived at the same time as myself. When we meet up with Syl inside, she seemed a little distracted by something. I let them know about my trip to San Fierro and Elatha told us about his meeting with a thirteen year old boy from the preschool. After this exchange I asked Syl about what the mission CJ put her on. She eventually explained after I recounted my experience with Tsi. We decided that we had hit a dead end as far as the missing children go. We decided to have a look at Rayne’s place.

We arrived at the place Syl said was Rayne’s house. It was covered in police tape and there was a cop watching the back entrance. So we went into the front, the place was trashed. Apparently it was not left like this by Syl and her companions. I looked back in time, guided by fate. I saw that someone had broke into the place before about a week earlier. A gang of thugs, led by a young Mage. The Mage told the others to search for a notebook. They trashed the place, the Mage walked up to a door and blew a way into Rayne’s Sanctum with a powerful artifact. He emerged a short time later, quite furious. When one of his gang questioned the Mage, the Mage killed him with magic. I must find that notebook.
